US STATE AWARDED THREE MICHELIN STARS
We’re used to seeing the Michelin Guide award its coveted three star rating to the world’s best restaurants, but in a first for the French tire company, they’ve decided to give an entire US state the honour.
The Michelin Green Guide, which is focused on destinations, has a similar ratings system to the ‘Red’ restaurants guide, where one star indicates an “interesting” attraction or destination, two stars is “worth a detour” and three stars is “exceptional, worth a special journey in itself.”
Utah, the first US State to receive the highest rating, has been recognised for the “high quality of service, the beauty of its world class landscapes, and the concentration of three-Michelin-star National Parks,” according to Le Guide Vert Michelin Editorial Director, Philippe Orain.
The Beehive State has a top notch cocktail scene, a burgeoning farm to table movement and great artisanal chocolate, according to Food and Wine, and we described State capital Salt Lake City as one of the best places to eat in the US West back in 2015, one full of “talented chefs and adventurous diners.”
