World’s Best Chefs to Discuss Social Gastronomy


WORLD’S BEST CHEFS TO DISCUSS SOCIAL GASTRONOMY





Chefs, artists, writers, filmmakers and scientists are all set to converge in Modena, Italy on 24 July as Massimo Bottura hosts "social gastronomy" on 24 July, the same day that the Basque Culinary World Prize 2018 will be awarded.

The symposium, organised along with the Basque Culinary Center and the Basque Government, has been designed to allow the "sharing of the power of ideas, the strength of culture, the impact of science, the influence of art, and the new ways of connecting people through gastronomy."

Guests will be able to join some of the world's most influential chefs like Michael Bras (France),Joan Roca (Spain), Andoni Luis Aduriz (Spain), Gastón Acurio (Peru), Dominique Crenn (USA), and Yoshihiro Narisawa (Japan) who will also have input into how gastronomy has become part of a social movement.

Basque Culinary World Prize


The winner of the Basque Culinary World Prize, an award created by the Basque Culinary Center and the Basque Government for chefs who transform society through gastronomy, will also be announced that same day.

Speakers include French artist JR, David Gelb, the American director of Chef’s Table, American journalist and editor Ruth Reichl; Ilse Crawford, the British designer and creative director of Studio Ilse; and British food historian Bee Wilson.

Last year’s winner was Colombian chef Leonor Espinosa, who was praised for her work with Colombia’s rural populations and preservation of its culinary heritage.
