In an unexpected twist, President Gabriel Paillasson exercised the right to activate a "wild card" during the award ceremony, picking Poland as the fourth team to join the qualifying teams.

Eight countries competed in this qualifying round, where they were given 5 hours to create a frozen fruit dessert and 10 desserts on a plate as well as one sugar sculpture and one chocolate sculpture.

Special awards went to Russia for their chocolate sculpture and Poland for the sugar prize, while Turkey took home the eco-sustainable prize. Only Bulgaria and Israel left empty-handed.
