CANTALOUPE BACKGROUND
Did you know that cantaloupe was named after a castle in Italy? This succulent melon has been enjoyed in the Mediterranean since Roman times thanks to its transport from Asia, where melons originated.
Cantaloupe is a variety of muskmelon and in some countries the names are used interchangeably. Honeydew and Persian melon are other varieties that fall under the muskmelon species.

CANTALOUPE SEASON
The season for cantaloupe melon runs from May to December. In the United States, cantaloupes are mainly produced in California, Texas and Arizona. In fact, California produces 75% of the nation's cantaloupes, according to California Cantaloupes.
