PASTRY QUEEN 2018: THE BEST PASTRY CHEFS IN THE WORLD COMPETE

Who will be named Pastry Queen 2018? The answer will be determined at SIGEP, World Exhibition of Artisan Confectionery taking place from Saturday 20 to Wednesday 24 January in Rimini, Italy.

The industry event, which sits within the wider gelato, confectionery and bakery exhibition, is now in its fourth edition, and will see 12 of the best pastry chefs in the world compete for the Pastry Queen title over two intense days of baking and sculpting (22nd and 23rd January.)

THE PASTRY QUEEN: THE COMPETITON

Italian pastry chef and winner of the 2016 edition, Silvia Federica Boldetti, is this year's champion in charge. As stipulated by the regulations, the winning nation hosts the event, but does not compete.

Who are the competitors this year?
Among 12 of the best pastry chefs in the world will travel from across the globe for the chance to compete head to head for the title.

With a jury composed of 12 coaches, directed by the President of Jury Roberto Rinaldini and with the collaboration of the President of Honor, Maestro Iginio Massari, the young competitors will compete armed with spatulas and piping bags.

PASTRY QUEEN: THE THEME

The theme for this year's edition is ASTROLOGY which the competitors must interpret by combining sugar and pastillage into the following artistic creations:
Contemporary, single-serving tart
Coffee ice-cream dessert in a glass
Single-serving, chocolate dessert on a plate
Mini pastry finger ring
