INSIDE MASSIMO BOTTURA'S NEW FLORENCE RESTAURANT

Chef Massimo Bottura’s new restaurant in Florence, a collaboration with Italian fashion house Gucci, opens to the public today.

The 50-seat Gucci Osteria, which is housed inside the newly renovated Gucci Garden Galleria, formerly the Gucci Museo, in the 14th century Palazzo della Mercanzia, will offer an entirely new menu of Italian classics with an interational twist, including “Parmigiano Reggiano tortellini, Peruvian-inspired tostadas, pork belly buns and mushroom risotto,” priced at around €20-30 per dish, according to Reuters. Chef Ana Karime Lopez Kondo will head up the kitchen and the restaurant will be open throughout the day.

The theme is most definitely green, with lines from a 15th-century Medici carnival song written in gold script on the restaurant’s stone tablet-lined walls, according to The Spaces. "The restaurant is a reminder that Florence has always been a centre of cultural exchange, particularly during the Renaissance," says Bottura.
Situated in the Italian city’s most famous square, the Piazza della Signoria, the Gucci Garden also features a boutique, galleries, a fashion museum and video installations.

Bottura, who’s three-Michelin-star restaurant Osteria Francescana in Modena, Italy topped The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2016, is also planning to open a restaurant in Dubai and has just announced that he will open another Refettorio, this time in Paris, as part of his ongoing project to turn food waste into gourmet meals for the needy.
