Captain Melville, 34 Franklin Street, Melbourne

Refined Pub Food

Housed behind one of Melbourne's oldest pubs built in 1853, Captain Melville's industrial chic decor along with a great menu, is worth a visit.

The menu, although not extensive, is 'refined' pub food at its best and is sourced from ethical and sustainable Victorian farms.

This is the place for us when we want steak which was accompanied with caramelized shallot butter for me and pepper sauce for him. Always cooked to our liking, chips always crispy and the salads aren't just leaves thrown on a plate - dressed well with radishes and finely cut red onion - a little pizzaz on a plate.  We selected caramelized shallot butter and pepper sauce - yummy.

The service has always been great, although we understand through other reviews/blogs people have had a bad experience.  I will always be back for the food.
