S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 is Underway: See Day One's Highlights


S.PELLEGRINO YOUNG CHEF 2018 GRAND FINALE: THE HIGHLIGHTS SO FAR...





The climax of S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018, the most exciting talent search for the best young chef in the world, is fast approaching! The Grand Finale takes place tonight – watch the live stream from Milan at 7pm CEST and find out who will be crowned this year's winner!

And as the countdown begins, the atmosphere is buzzing here at the SuperStudio in Milan, with all 21 international S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 finalists having finally had the chance to compete in the biggest culinary challenge of a lifetime.

Over the past two days the 21 young chefs have taken up the ultimate challenge and cooked under the spotlight in three separate groups, with the unfaltering support of their mentor chefs.

Each had five hours cooking time to prepare and present their signature dishes for tasting to the grand jury, also know as the Seven Sages. The international chef jury of seven greats has reported an impressive level of cooking this year, with some very personal stories being told through incredible food.

Chefs, journalists, influencers, family, friends and TV presenters are now milling around in anticipation of the news of winners of the S.Pellegrino Young Chef 2018 title, revealed tonight. There are also two other awards up for grabs; The Acqua Panna Taste of Authenticity Award (voted for by the 21 mentors) and the Fine Dining Lovers People's Choice Award (voted for by Fine Dining Lovers readers).

The first finalists to cook on Saturday morning were Antonio Buono (France), Anton Husa(Scandinavia-Baltics), David Andres (Spain and Portugal), Benjamin Mauroy Langlais (Canada),Constadina Voulgari (Mediterranean countries), John Taube IV (USA) and Jake Kellie (South East Asia).

In the afternoon, the second group of young chefs took to the kitchen to present their signature dishes to the Seven Sages. John Rivera (Pacific), Yasuhiro Fujio (Japan), Chanwai Poon (China), Marcin Popielarz (Eastern Europe), Ruslan Evstigneev (Russia), Frédéric Chastro (Benelux) and Zih Yang Chen (Northeast Asia).

The third and final group to cook on the morning of day 2 was : Edoardo Fumagalli (Italy), Killian Crowley (UK and Ireland), David Walti (Switzerland), Elizabeth Puquio Landeo (South America), Falko Weiss (Germany-Austria), Oscar Segundo (Central America-Caribbean) and Vusumuzu Ndlovu (Africa and Middle East).
