How to Handmake Soba Noodles

HOW TO HANDMAKE SOBA NOODLES

Here's another great how-to video from Bon Appétit magazine, but this time we're not looking at how to break down a whole cow or tuna; we're discovering how to make delicous soba noodles by hand.

Soba are thin noodles made from buckwheat ('soba' is Japanese for buckwheat), or buckwheat and wheat, and as ever with these videos, even if you're not planning to undertake what's being demonstrated, it's great to get a better idea of the craft involved and some of the terminology, the necessary tools, etc.

If you want to learn more about the different types of Japanese noodles, take a look at this guide to seven different types of Japanese noodles.

Make sure to watch the video right through to the end for tips on how to cook and plate soba noodles.
