Michelin will continue it's expansion into Asia, with the launch of a a guide to Taiwan's capital Taipei, it's been announced.

As Focus Taiwan reports, the Guide is slated to appear in the first quarter of 2018, with inspections already taking place. It will be Michelin's 30th Guide.

It follows the news earlier this year that Bangkok is also to get an inaugural Guide before the end of 2017. The last couple of years has also seen innaugural guides for Singapore and Shanghai, with Michelin keen to show they have an understanding of the region's culinary traditions by awarding stars to street food vendors.

It may also be the case that the Taipei Guide is extended to the rest of Taiwan in the future, as has been mooted with the Bangkok Guide.

Possible contendors for inclusion in the Taipei Guide include chef Andre Chiang's RAW – though he has said previously that he would not want to be included – and Mume, which both can be found on the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants list, at numbers 24 and 43 respectively.
