OWN A PIECE OF NOMA HISTORY

Noma, the influential Copenhagen restaurant at the forefront of the New Nordic movement is to auction off some of its old furniture, fixtures and fittings ahead of its reopening at a new site in early 2018.

The auction, which will take place at Wright auction house in Chicago on 2 November, features lots including tables and chairs, ceramics and even the reception counter, from designers such as Space Copenhagen, Aage and Kasper Würtz, and Nina Nørgaard, all with a strong Nordic aesthetic. If you ever visited the old site on Copenhagen’s waterfront you’re sure to recognise and have probably sat on/eaten/drunk from some of these.

Though many of the estimates runs into the thousands of Dollars, with the table from the private dining room priced at $20,000 – $30,000, there are plenty of smaller objects in the hundreds territory, including glassware, ceramics and taxidermy. These are all estimates mind, so who knows what will happen on the day.

If you want to know just what René Redzepi and the Noma team have been doing ahead of what must be one of the most anticipated restaurant reopenings of recent times, take a look at the video below.
