MICHELIN GUIDE TO SAN FRANCISCO 2018 – THE FULL LIST





The Michelin Guide to San Francisco 2018 has just been unveiled, and it's an eventful one, with a new three star restaurant, two new two stars, and four new on star restaurants.

Executive Chef Matthew Kirkley will be delighted that Coi, close to the city's waterfront, has been awarded its third star. Having taken over from Daniel Patterson a little under two years ago, his first action was to write an entirely new tasting menu of avant-garde, California-French cuisine. The Guide particularly praised Coi's treatment of local seafood, such as abalone and oysters.

Aside from that the three star list remains the same, meaning the Bay Area now has seven, three Michelin star restaurants – more than New York, albiet briefly posssbly, as the New York Guide is due out next week. Still no third star for Dominique Crenn at Atelier Crenn however.

Joining the two club this year are Single Thread in Sonoma County, which goes straight in at two stars, while Californios in the Mission makes the jump up from one. The four new one star rstaurants are In Situ, Kenzo, Kinjo and Rich Table.

Michelin had delayed the release of the Guide this year as mark of respect, after the devasting wild fires in the surrounding countryside.
