Virgilio Martinez and Josean Alija Team Up in London


VIRGILIO MARTINEZ AND JOSEAN ALIJA TEAM UP IN LONDON





If you've ever wondered what happens when Basque and Peruvian foods meet, the answer can be found in London this weekend.

Following the Guggenheim's 20th Anniversary celebrations with "Creativity in Gastronomy," Virgilio Martinez will head to London to join forces with his old friend Josean Alija on Sunday 24 September.

The famed Peruvian chef from Latin America's best restaurant, Central, will take up the reins at his Lima Floral restaurant in Covent Garden along with Josean from Michelin-starred NERUA Guggenheim Bilbao, for a special one-day collaboration.

Conjuring up a seven-course tasting menu between them, part Basque and part Peruvian, this promises to be one interesting fusion for some lucky diners. Here's the menu:

Spanish tomatoes with aromatic herbs on a capers' base

Langoustine broth with coconut cream and curry

Cod cheeks in cockles ‘pil pil’

CENTRAL / LIMA London

Lobster with cacao mucilage

Vegetables with warm ‘chili milk’

Wagyu beef served with Andean cereals

Dessert Assortment

The lunch service costs £55 and begins at 12.30pm and dinner is £70 beginning with cocktails at the BAJO Bar at 6.30pm followed by the dinner service from 7pm.
