FOOD CRITIC SLAMS MARCO PIERRE WHITE

A food critic in Ireland has launched a scathing attack on Marco Pierre White, but it has nothing to do with the British chef's food.

The Irish Mail on Sunday’s Tom Doorley has quit his role as a critic alongside White on The Restaurant, a long running TV show where a different celebrity has to produce a three-course meal each week, describing White as a “human vortex” and a “dinosaur,” according to the Independent.ie.

White had only recently joined the show after the death of critic Paolo Tullio in 2015. But Doorley says he had problems with him right from the off and has now quit the show after 14 series.

“Suddenly The Restaurant was transformed into The Marco Pierre White Show … On the first night of shooting he was so unbearable - contradicting, making lofty pronouncements, talking over the rest of us and never shutting up,” says Doorley. “Marco is like a human vortex; when he has an audience, everything is in orbit around him and he will not take any direction from floor managers, cameramen, directors or me."

Doorley also accused him of “sexist sleaze” saying “he made me feel that I had been cast back to the 1970s.”

White has always had a reputation for being difficult of course, especially back in the early days. You get a flavour of his abrasive side in this footage of him training a young Gordon Ramsay at Harveys in London.
